It's April!

1 April 2017

I can’t believe it’s April already! (It’s good that April 1st falls on a Saturday this year since that probably saved our zone from any pranks my husband may have had up his sleeve.) :-)

I’m very excited for General Conference this weekend!! (And, happy that we have tickets to attend the Sunday afternoon session.)

One of the talks we listened to this week was from the April 2016 conference. It’s a talk by Elder Holland called “Tomorrow the Lord Will Do Wonders Among You.” He said, “My brothers and sisters, the first great commandment of all eternity is to love God with all of our heart, might, mind, and strength—that’s the first great commandment. But the first great truth of all eternity is that God loves us with all of His heart, might, mind, and strength. That love is the foundation stone of eternity, and it should be the foundation stone of our daily life. Indeed, it is only with that reassurance burning in our soul that we can have the confidence to keep trying to improve, keep seeking forgiveness for our sins, and keep extending that grace to our neighbor.”

I think if we could each truly tap into that great love that our Father has for us, and, as Elder Holland said, make it the foundation stone of our daily life, oh, how we would be transformed!!

We got to attend the Draper temple yesterday and it was wonderful to be there and to do the work for our kindred. It’s a magnificent temple! (We were told that it’s a small temple, but those who said that haven’t seen our dear Raleigh temple.) It was so beautiful and peaceful, I didn’t want to leave.

We also read a talk by Truman G. Madsen this week in which he said, “. . .the Prophet [Joseph Smith] introduced the principle of baptism for the (we always say) dead. But there are no dead. Those who are in the spirit world are very much alive, in fact perhaps more alive than we are.” Such beautiful doctrine—and such a comfort for those who have lost loved ones.

I am more grateful each day for the blessings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

I read the book, The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom this week. I was truly humbled by the goodness and faith of her and her family. I, too often, take for granted the opportunities that are mine and don’t rely upon God enough. I want to have a heart as pure as theirs were!

I love that thought by Truman Madsen! Thank you for sharing. Wasn't conference wonderful?! So glad you got to be there for the afternoon session today.
